Muir presumes Hudson has heard what makes him dislike to write to her from a person whom she despises. It is impossible to marry in the Church; if a Catholic is moral he thinks himself too good for anybody. In Christian Reid Hudson has secured a prize. Muir, if she marries, will have to live near a Mormon settlement, where the most hostile feeling exists between the white and the foreign element. Joseph A.
