Father Herman Alerding's "History of the Diocese of Vincennes", Lambing admires all of it but its lack of prudence. The article Lambing has in the course of preparation is on the publication of the Banns of Matrimony. Lambing has tried to write a brief account of the routes of the early French missionaries and explorers to the Far West and the Mississippi Valley and at the same time show that these discoveries were made by missionaries or at least Catholics. He does not think it will encroach on the ground which John G. Shea wishes to cover. Lambing will have a photograph taken and send one to Hudson. Their mutual friend Father P. F.
