Their pastor by his unobtrusive and amiable Christian spirit won the hearts of all. Both Catholics and Protestants regret his death. The Bishop sends the name of G.A.W. Wendell as a person qualified to write a paper for the Columbian Catholic Congress. Wendell is a Jewish born, German educated convert with active experience with Socialist labor societies, who is willing to write on any subject. The Bishop had baptized him, and calls him a sincere convert.

Scope and Contents Moore informs Delacroix of the death of Father John Andrew Fierabras after an illness of ten days. Moore came into town to attend him. There is not one here to whom he was know but will regret him deeply. He died this morning at two o'clock. Moore has collected his effects and placed them under lock and key. A letter and telegram sent to Delacroix before will prepare him for the news. A priest is of immediate necessity here. The fever in New Orleans is far behind in comparison with it here....
