Scope and Contents O'Meara meant to send Hudson a short sketch for Easter but was unable to do so. She placed Hudson's name in the book of prayers in the Sacristy of Notre Dame des Victoires. France is in the ridiculous situation of begging for a mountebank to govern her and no one has been found brave enough to govern her. An Orleanist monarchy would be an improvement, but it would not last any more than Louis Philippe's government. The Catholics have no confidence in the Comte de Paris. Joseph Cardinal...

O'Meara cannot obtain a photograph of the old frontis piece. Geraldine O'Meara was told that the pictures are seldom photographed. She thanks Hudson for the enclosure and the letter of last week. She is thinking of a sketch of Soeur Rosalie's life but modern types are perhaps more useful. It is hard work possessing one's soul in peace these troubling times. She had an inspiring letter from Cardinal Henry Edward Manning about her Perreyve. He is angry at a hostile notice of it in the "Tablets." She hopes Hudson will not condemn Perreyve as a liberal. :: X-2-h A. Postcard S.

O'Meara, Kathleen, Paris, France, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1879 May 30

 Item — Box CHUD 2
Identifier: CHUD X-2-e
Scope and Contents Miss O'Meara has been absorbed with the calamity at Notre Dame. The story of the city, it's rise and crowning trial of faith reads like an old legend and the beauty of it will be complete when September sees the school raised from its ruins to the power of the mother of God by the energy of her children in Indiana. Father Dennis dined with them and he is interested in the trial as if he witnessed the fire, and would gladly lend a hand to trundle a wheel barrow and his would not capsize...

O'Meara, Kathleen, Paris, France To Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1879 August 31

 Item — Box CHUD 2
Identifier: CHUD X-2-e
Scope and Contents She thanks Hudson for the check. She hopes the missing number which contained the quota of Cyril will soon appear. It must have been lost in the mail. She is going to tell Hudson of an account of a grace granted to a poor sufferer by Our Lady of Lourdes. The girl was dying with an incurable disease of the heart and had spent her whole fortune on doctors and medicine to no effect. She lost the use of her limbs and was attended in her room by the Sisters of Saint Vincent de Paul. She made...

O'Meara, Kathleen, Paris ?, France, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, CSC, Notre Dame, Indiana, 1879 October 10

 Item — Box CHUD 2
Identifier: CHUD X-2-e
Scope and Contents She thanks Hudson for the six Ave Marias and is glad she followed an impulse and wrote. She only meant him to slip an extract from a letter into his report of the week at Lourdes, and did not expect the narrative to be given a high place in the synagogue. A sketch of H. Perreyre's ? life is in the post and she meant to choose P. Desson but she found Perry's letters and could not resist writing about him. She enjoyed doing the notice of his life and someday will do a sketch of P. Desson...

O'Meara, Kathleen, Paris, France, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1875 July 27

 Item — Box CHUD 1
Identifier: CHUD X-2-d
Scope and Contents Hudson's letter to her was satisfactory. She will be pleased to receive the Ave Maria, to indicate the choice of subject if Hudson wishes to have another manuscript from her. "The Battle of Connemare" may be called a children's book, but it was written for mature readers; she wished to illustrate the contrast between the Catholic priest and the selfish Protestant person. She describes the novel. The 50 pounds she indicated as the price was based on an agreement made with Hudson's...

 Item — Box CHUD 1
Identifier: CHUD X-2-d
Scope and Contents She received both Hudson's notes by the same post, and asks him to throw the missing manuscript into the fire. She should have sent him the sketch of Mother Teresa Kelly ten days ago; the delay is caused by her having given it to a friend to copy. She is grateful to see that Hudson published her account of the miracle. One needs such consolations these days, especially in France where the devil seems to be having things his own way. There is despair at the city of Paris withdrawing all...

O'Meara, Kathleen, Paris, France, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1878 December 31

 Item — Box CHUD 2
Identifier: CHUD X-2-d
Scope and Contents She sends a manuscript on St. Terese entitled "One of God's Heroines". If the title is objectionable Hudson may change it to one more suitable to the subject therein. Refering to the remarkable mid-ocean adventures of Rev. Laurin, which serve to promote devotion to the Blessed Virgin by exposing the miraculous help obtained, effecting the rescuing of his ship, through invoking her assistance, she states that an account of this narrow escape written by Rev. Laurin would prove very...

Miss O'Meara acknowledges the 15 £ received from Hudson. She would like Hudson to bring out the sketch of Mother Teresa before "The Battle of Connemara" as many Sisters of Mercy are waiting to see it. She is aware of the fact that arrangements may already be made. She asks Hudson to be remembered in his prayers. :: X-2-e A.L.S. 2pp. 16 mo

O'Meara, Kathleen, Paris, France, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1879 April 15

 Item — Box CHUD 2
Identifier: CHUD X-2-e
Scope and Contents Miss O'Meara had hoped to send Hudson a souvenir from Pere Lacordaire for Easter but her friend, P. Chocarne, who promised it to her was called away to preach at Orleans and has not returned. She asks Hudson to have a few copies of "Cyril" struck off from the Ave Maria type before it is dispersed if it is possible. She wanted to have some copies printed in London but it was too expensive, and the printers told her that once the type was set it was a trifle. 3000 men have received...

 Item — Box CHUD 3
Identifier: CHUD X-3-h
Scope and Contents O'Meara submits a story entitled "Soeur Rosalie" which is 175 pages in length. The price according to the agreement would be forty pounds, but she will not hold Hudson to the agreement unless the Ave Maria is flourishing. She put Hudson's name down for prayers at Notre Dame des Victoires. O'Meara does not like to hear that Hudson is ill so frequently. The Church's canonization of St. Benedict Labre was a glorious stroke of opportunism. The anti-Christians are so sensible to it that they...
