He received McMaster's letter asking for a renewal of his subscription in the Freeman's Journal. Since they have not received a number since last fall, they thought it a waste of money. They supposed McMaster knew the Journal did not come to this state by mail. They did see the number containing Bishop John Spaulding's pastoral letter. It would be a privilege to be concerned in giving the world the remains of a man like Carey, but he, Newman, is the last who should do it. Carey was high in the favor of his church.
