Gutton renews his request for a delay of several weeks for his ordination. He will review his moral theology and practice the principal ceremonies. His director thinks the delay necessary. At the railroad, Gutton met three priests leaving for Spring Hill. They took him into their group and put his luggage with theirs. Arrived at Mobile, they paid a visit to the Bishop and then went to Spring Hill. One of the priests is going to show Gutton the treatises which he has not yet studied. Guy wrote Rousselon a letter as soon as he arrived here. He had forgotten a package in his room, containing a vestment, a register, medals and rosaries. The person who was to give Rousselon the letter probably did nothing about it. Guy asks Rousselon to find out about this package. Could Guy have left it with the porter or at the bookstore? He shows Blanc the estimate of what it would cost to restore Trinity Church and the cost of building it in brick, according to the plans made by T.E. Giraud and Loisy ?. Also for a main altar, 2 side altars, a pulpit, 80 pews, Communion rail, baptismal font and confessionals. The total would come to 11,500 piastres. On March 29, 1864 Gys received Odin's letter in which there was a letter for the Cardinal Archbishop of Malines for the transfer of Father Francois Ceuppens' title which reached Gys yesterday. Now Gys has received a second letter dated May 10, 1864 containing the deed of which he sent Odin a copy. He reads that Ceuppens is well and working with zeal in the post assigned him. Genevieve, destined for Louisiana and Texas. Ceuppens, whose deputy guardian Gys was, promised to write immediately after his arrival, but he has received no news from him.
