Father Lalumiere has just read the Catholic Telegraph's reply to McMaster's article against the conduct of the two archbishops. He notes in the Telegraph's reply that he the editor holds the bull of Adrien to be genuine? If McMaster keeps the files of the Telegraph, a reading of Vol. 37, No. 27, first page, dated April 22, 1868, "Pope Adrien and Henry II" will be of use in formulating a reply. :: I-1-n A.L.S. 1p. 12mo.

Father Charles Berard asked him to say a few words in his behalf. Lambert does not know Berard well but during his sojourn at Havre he cannot be reproached with anything. Berard's element is to preach and the education of young men. He has given all his savings to the poor. If Purcell accepts Berard, Lambert will borrow money for his passage. He would like the money paid back after Berard is in Purcell's diocese for six months.

The pencil he gave Edwards in Rome was the one he wrote "Notes on Ingersoll" with. He sends two books. The larger one is a curiosity; the small one once belonged to Bishop Simon G. Brute of Vincennes. He sends also a stone broke off the rock Areopagus where St. Paul stood when preaching to the Athenians. The other stone he picked up from the ruins of the temple of Diana of the Ephesians. The Philosophical Society of Great Britain has made him a member. :: XI-1-j A.L.S. 2pp.

Bishop Augustus M Toebbe's mitre was presented to him by the Sisters of the Good Shephered on his silver jubilee. Toebbe never used the wooden crozier. He will look for a mitre of Bishop George Carrell.

Lambert is glad (Seton) concluded to send his communications to the Freeman. (Seton) errs ehen he thinks Lambert tampered with his communicaitons to the Catholic Times. That was done in the Phila(delphia) office. Tampering with his editorials was the main cause of Lambert severing connections with the Times. In his speech at Trenton Bishop (Bernard J.) McQ(uaid) attacked Father P. Cronin, Editor of Union and Times of Buffalo.
