He is not sure whether he has any old numbers of Brownson's Review. Having just moved here his library is in a confused state. This is a quiet place but the congregation is very poor. The Archbishop consented to give the mortgage but was prevented by a ring of intemperate priests who care about nothing but money. P. S. James F. Edwards, professor of the Catholic University of Notre Dame, desires to visit Maynooth on his way to America. Hawley is sure Canon Browne will receive him kindly. Father Daniel Hudson of Notre Dame is the editor of the "Ave Maria" for which Hawley is an occasional contributor.
