The enclosed letter tells of an applicant. He has material that would take years to publish but is anxious to gather more. He presents his respects to Father Peter Cooney, C.S.C.. By the Scholastic he notes that Edwards has received manuscripts bearing on the early history of the Spanish Missions in the south. Griffin will pay to have someone translate them for him. What's the use of them if not put to service. He had a visit from Pro. Maurice F. Egan and advises Edwards to keep Egan away from the good people of the university until the contamination wears off.

Archbishop Corrigan writes that a grand nephew of Bishop Simon G. Brute claimes an received every bit of paper which belonged to Brute. Bishop Bayley brought them to New York from Newark. He has some of the New Jersey Archives and Pennsylvania Records that Edwards may need. He and his boy Will were out at the Fair. Typhoid fever prevented his son Martin Griffin, Jr. from applying for admission to the seminary. His daughter Stella Griffin is now Sister Mary Dorothea of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart. Griffin was knocked out of the secretaryship I. C. B. Union at last convention. Prohibition too strong for the politicians. :: XI-1-k TYPED 1p.
