Like Hudson, Finlay regretted William P. Coyne's decision to seek a fortune in the United States. He thinks Coyne has much in common with Maurice Francis Egan. The literary sensation over here is W. O'Brien's "When We Were Boys". There is a feeling amongst the clergy against the way O'Brien treats of religion, but as yet it has not been put into print. Mr. Dimon who has just severed his connection with the Congregationalist Society and accepted a Professorship in the Protestant College at Providence. He leaves a void there that cannot easily be filled. None regret his departure more than Finotti.
