Last night he went to see "Natural Gas" but was disgusted with it. Such plays vitiate the public taste. If Hudson is at Notre Dame when the delegates to the Temperance Union arrive, Edwards suggests that they be greeted so as to give a good impression. Notre Dame will not live by the hospitality tendered to these men but she will gain by identifying herself with the Temperance Union of America. After a pleasant visit to Switzerland Edwards arrived in Munich to enjoy the art treasures. He visited the famous university of Strasbourg. A trip up the Rigi presented a succession of beautiful views. He relates how he spends his days.

He thanks (Seton) for the delightful day he spent in (Seton)'s home. He has written to a friend in Rome informing him that American priests are really neglected when honors are to be bestowed. He had a long letter from Rome telling him much about the recent controversy. Wednesday he leaves for Hartford, and then to Philadelphia. He has written home that (Seton) has promised to deliver the commencement oration next June. All will be delighted.
