He gives Edwards many thanks for the repair of the rosary beads. The practitioner is a very eminent man and the diagnosis agrees with what Edwards already knows. Edwards should act with forethought and premeditation. The prayers of the good Sisters has done much for Edwards. :: XI-2-k A.L.S. 4pp.

The Ave Maria and the Scholastic came in time. Lillian Westervelt is visiting in Kansas City for the winter. Mr. L. Grimm called on him; Grimm was happy that his son was in such a beautiful place and Order. There is great drought near Boston. Father Leo F. O'Neil has been ill since August Father John J. The Scholastic and the Ave Maria came all right with Edwards' letter. He will call on Father Evers. He will see an old friend consecrated Bishop of Jamaica, West Indies, Father John J. Collins, the first Jesuit priest to be consecrated in New York State as a Bishop. Archbishop Farley is the consecrator, with Bishop Camillus Paul Maes and Bishop Thomas Daniel Beaven also present. It is a sad inheritance for derangement has overtaken many members of Miss Brent's family; she has a brother who has been at Mt. Hope for 40 years. She was delighted to receive Edwards' letter. The little Church near there is attended by the Franciscan Fathers and has all the privileges for the devotion established by St. Francis of Assisi. Mass was said Aug. 2 for Rebecca Carroll. The priest in charge of the Mission gave her a fourleaf clover and she construed it into a message from St. Francis to join the Third Order. She encloses a letter that might interest Edwards. Mrs. Fitzhugh is their eldest sister. P.S. She suggests that Father General install a "Merry go round" for the minims; it would be a money-making business.
