Mrs. Carrington sympathizes with Hudson on the death of his father. She likes very much the article on the volume of poems and will send for them. The Ave Maria is dearer to her than ever. She was powerfully affected by the diary of the imprisonment of the Bishop of Corea. Even when he was released he felt the power of his mission so much as to accuse himself of abandoning his flock. Scope and Contents She has received Hudson's letter and is grateful for Hudson's kind feelings. There is no man she would rather see than Father Provincial Alexis Granger as she has a peculiar interest in him. Father Provincial showed a Catholic interest in her and sent her Lourdes Water which was used in her husband's dying hours and was the only sacred thing around, as he was surrounded by his bigoted relations who seemed to have everything their own way. But she does not believe they had their own way....

She writes to tell him that she received the rosary; she thanks him. Frank Carroll is in New York City to be at the consecration of the Bishop of Jamacia, Father John J. She asks Edwards to please write to Lucy telling of the blessings; her husband has fallen away from the Church. She will not tire Edwards with her chatter. They thanked God to see a line written by Edwards again. They were so sad and both in tears over his condition. Never will she say anything again to tease him. Father John W. Cavanaugh, C.S.C. was there at an Alumni banquet; no one let Frank Carroll know.
