Boursetty, Jules de, Rome, Italy, to Archbishop Napoleon Joseph Perché, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1881 March 25

 Item
Identifier: CANO VI-3-c
Scope and Contents He did not wish to send the enclosed no enclosure letter without a few greetings from himself and their friends in Rome. He does not have any news but hopes to find some at Paris where he will remain for Easter. Perché knows of the divisions among the Catholics in France and the polemics raised by the attitude of the nuncio Archbishop Vladimir Czacki. Everyone at the Vatican is profoundly afflicted. Cardinal John Simeoni has asked him to send Perché his greetings in particular. VI-3-c -...

Boursetty, Jules de, Rome, Italy, to Archbishop Napoleon Joseph Perché, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1878 March 28

 Item
Identifier: CANO VI-3-a
Scope and Contents Boursetty will be at Rome several days longer. Today he telegraphed to Perché the dispatch from Cardinal Giovanni Simeoni in reply to his request about dispensations for affinity. He has been without direct news of Perché for two months. Father Joseph Marie Millet in seven weeks has sent only one brief letter announcing the arrival of Father Hyacinthe Claude Mignot . 20,000 circulars are ready. It is agreeable to Father Leneuf that they meet with Mignot and adopt a plan from which they will...

Boursetty, Jules de, Rome, Italy, to Archbishop Napoleon Joseph Perché, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1881 December 10

 Item
Identifier: CANO VI-3-c
Scope and Contents Perché's letter of November 17 gave him pleasure because he sees therein his heart and vigour of thought, but the contents caused him much pain. He is not alone in Rome in deploring the turn given to the administration of the diocese of New Orleans ; a judicial liquidation will produce the most unfortunate effect. Perché should oppose it, and Cardinal John Simeoni claims that he can. The solution indicated by Paul Emile Théard is the only practical one. Bishop Francis Xavier Leray wrote to...

Boursetty, Jules de, Rome, Italy, to Archbishop Napoleon Joseph Perché, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1881 December 20

 Item
Identifier: CANO VI-3-c
Scope and Contents Perché's last letter caused him great chagrin, and he understands all that Perché must endure. To argue the nullity of bonds on which interest has been paid for five years is impossible. The delay in paying the interest will have the most deplorable effect in France. At Propaganda they are amazed at the attitude of Bishop Francis Xavier Leray . Perché can be tranquil; everyone is with him. Yesterday he had a long talk with Cardinal John Simeoni who recognizes Perché's authority over the...

Boursetty, Jules de, Rome, Italy, to Archbishop Napoleon Joseph Perché, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1882 April 12

 Item
Identifier: CANO VI-3-d
Scope and Contents The two envoys of the corporation will be of the opinion that the solution is in Perché's hands. In Rome it is unanimous that Perché is a great bishop; Boursetty does not believe they have the same opinion of M. The Cardinal of Propaganda cannot officially write to Perché; his position is delicate but all his sympathies are with Perché. Perché knows the changes in the Vatican: Ricci is a Cardinal, Monsignor Macchi will not replace him, Leo XIII has chosen Monsignor Théoduli as majordomo,...

Boutelou de St. Aubin, J. Vigor, Assumption, Louisiana, to Father John Timon, C.M., Barrens, Missouri, 1836 August 18

 Item
Identifier: CVIN IV-3-j
Scope and Contents Boutelou's conduct may appear very astonishing to Timon. He feels highly flattered by the attentions Timon had for him when he lived with Timon in learning the English language. The motive of Boutelou's delay lies in the loss of the barrel of cider and box of Father Louis Moni. Boutelou got on the steamboat at Mr. Davis' landing and passing by Mr. Pratte, Boutelou received his things on board by the yawl with the two boxes, one directed to Moni and the other to Father Jean Audisio. In...

Boutelou de St. Aubin, J. Vigor, Bayou Black, Louisiana, to Bishop Anthony Blanc, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1844 July 28

 Item
Identifier: CANO V-5-b
Scope and Contents Boutelou's uncle informed him about the complaints Blanc made in his letter written since Boutelou's trip to New Orleans. His main reason for going was to take care of Father Nicholas ? Fort's business. He was disappointed in the funds he was supposed to receive from the French consul who had not yet received them. Through Mother Therese he learned that Blanc was absent so he went to see Father Stephen Rousselon . Rousselon misjudged him if he suspected that Boutelou was not interested in...

Boutelou de St. Aubin, J. Vigor, Houma, Louisiana, to Bishop Anthony Blanc, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1848 October 5

 Item
Identifier: CANO V-5-j
Scope and Contents Boutelou received Blanc's letter of July 25 only yesterday through Father Edward Barthe, pastor of Houma. It was only then that he met their pastor. As Boutelou went through here to go to Thibodeaux, Barthe showed him Blanc's letter in which Blanc proposed to come to Houma the next day and attend a meeting of the administrators of the church. When he learned how his colleagues had treated Blanc he was ashamed. On his arrival at Thibodeaux, he met his slave who came from Father Charles M....

Boutwell can sympathize with McMaster upon the death of Mrs. McMaster for he too had lost his wife the December before. No other earthly trial can compare to the loss of a good and devoted wife. God intended it for the best and as a reward for two of His good and faithful servants. The consolation that they both can take however is that there are in Heaven two Angels watching their struggles in this land of probation. :: I-1-o A.L.S. 3pp. 8vo.
