Among those that can be recognized are: Charles Comiskey, Ted Lyons, Charlie Robertson, Dave Bancroft, Muddy Ruel, Butch Henline, Frank Frisch, Heinie Groh, and Bud Clancy. The ball itself is a Reach Official American League ball, double-stitched, Ban Johnson signature.

During Evers' tenure as general manager of the Albany club in the International League, he signed a man recently released from Sing Sing Prison, Edwin C. "Alabama" Pitts, to a player contract. The signing became a matter of considerable controversy, and was vetoed by the IL and the National Association before being upheld by Commissioner Landis.
