Scope and Contents
This collection consists of the personal papers of Mary Martín, a Spanish artist. Materials include loose sketches and sketchbooks of Martín, as well as newspaper clippings on her exhibitions, photographs, some prints, and notes. The majority of the materials are undated. Significant topics include women artists, Spanish artists, Mexican art, and sketching.

Biographical / Historical
Mary Luisa Martín (1927-1928), born in Spain, fled to Mexico in 1939. In 1944, she studied art at La Esmeralda before becoming a guest artist at the Taller de Grafica Popular in 1950, where she remained a member from 1955 until 1965. In 1969 she became a faculty lecturer of architecture at the Universidad Nacional Autónama de México.
