Scope and Contents This collection consists of the personal papers of Mary Martín, a Spanish artist. The images express the themes of temperance, including the perils of drink, the saving power of Christ and his teachings in the Bible, and the pernicious influence wielded by wealthy producers and purveyors of alcohol. The sketches also bear references to the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU).
