No doubt Hudson thinks Egan sometimes indiscreet, but hopes Hudson does not attribute this to James McMaster 's influence. The freedom Egan has in writing the editorials of the New York Freeman's -Journal make him inclined to call a spade a spade. On the Catholic Review, Egan had to be toned down because Patrick V.
