Sterling, George A., Sag Harbor, New Jersey, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1890 August 20
Scope and Contents
Sterling fears he may have raised Hudson's expectations too high regarding the correspondence which he encloses. The letter of James Cardinal Gibbons will explain itself. That of Henry Cardinal Manning breathes out his saintly character in every line. Sterling's daughter, Isabelle Sterling was at the convent school in Sag Harbor when she wrote to the Cardinal. She told him her Papa was a convert and that of her three brothers at St. Charles College, one was Cardinal Gibbons' boy whom he was going to educate for the priesthood. Probably there will be scant information for Charles Warren Stoddard to work upon, but Sterling hopes that Hudson will make the correspondence as interesting as possible. :: X-3-l A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.
