During 1887, there appeared in the New York Freeman's Journal an article, a verbatim copy in Latin and a translation from German priests and bishops of America to the authorities in Rome requesting fuller recognition of the German Language. He requests a copy of this document and wonders if Maurice Francis Egan can aid in securing a copy. Toomey has much hard work and he has received many hard knocks from the Grangers, but he is gaining ground. He received six converts into the church during 1888.
