Ten Broeck, R.S.H., Sister Elizabeth, Torresdale, Pennsylvania, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1888 December 21
Scope and Contents
Ten Broeck thanks Hudson for the literary notice of Sister Clare's book. Hudson did not seize rightly what Ten Broeck said about the Hahnhann letters. Stoddard's works will suffice for the young or old. The "Letters from Mexico" was reproduced in The Philadelphia Catholic Standard and has been requested by Ten Broeck's friend in Maryland. Mere Mooney whispered to her that "The Pilgrimage" is already in print under the title of "The Three Petitions". Ten Broeck forwards some pieces that may do for the "Scrappy Numbers". She saw H.G.S.'s contribution to Belford's Magazine and finds it cold for a Catholic writer, but perchance she fears non-acceptance if she were more pointed. The editor, Ten Broeck was told, sent her a check for the same amount as for "Joan" and a request to write some lines on Mrs. Sherman. :: X-3-i A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.
