Osouf has just returned from a tour of the north of his mission. He is grateful to Father General for including him with the bishops of the English speaking world in receiving the Ave Maria. He will always remember his visit at Notre Dame; he is grateful for Hudson's continued interest in Japan. The Christians demonstrated the respect they have for their bishop at a public reception and there was a great number of communicants on the days he confirmed. He visited about a dozen places the most distant being Sapporo about 300 leagues north of Tokyo. He will soon send a few statistics of the state of the mission from August, 1887 to August, 1888.
