Albeggiani, Augusta Henderson, Palermo, Italy, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1888 August 13
Scope and Contents
She is an Englishwoman, a convert who to escape persecution from her family came to Sicily, where she married fifteen years ago, a Palermitan, a professor of Italian and German. He is a quiet studious man not given to politics therefore little respected by the free thinkers and progressives of the city. Being young enough to begin life anew, she has a strong preference for America, particularly Ohio, Indiana or South Illinois. She and her husband are not ambitious, any thing her husband is fitted for, he would gladly accept, as professor in some college or high class school, or a place as librarian or any thing, so that it be a sure employment. She gives as references the Duke Corlonia in Rome, the late Lord Mayor, the Rector of the Royal University of Palermo, Signor Paterno and the Princess di Belmonte, Lady in waiting to the Queen of Italy. :: X-3-h A.L.S. 4pp. 8vo.
