Stoddard, Charles Warren, Covington, Kentucky, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1888 April 11
Item — Box: CHUD 12
Identifier: CHUD X-3-g
Scope and Contents
What Hudson says about Charles Porter is what he feared and it saddens him. If he could be taken from his old associates and placed beyond the reach of temptation he would become lamb-like. Stoddard would not stake a pin on his redemption in this life, but his fate in the world to come does not worry him. Robert Louis Stevenson is the rage now. Eventually his too numerous books will be weeded out and that which remains will be a kind of classic, but Stevenson will never again be as popular as he is at present. :: X-3-g A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.
