Mannix, Mary E., Cincinnati, Ohio, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1887 April 25

 Item — Box: CHUD 10
Identifier: CHUD X-3-d

Scope and Contents

The trial of John B. Mannix, her husband, has ended favorably because of a disagreement among the jury. Because of this ordeal she has been unable to write for the Ave Maria. She was unaware until she read Eliza Allen Starr's article on Mother Angela Gillespie that she was instrumental in forming the Ave Maria. Mannix did not think Father Neal Gillespie had much force. She inquires if there is a chance that Father Damien might recover his health. "Fairy Gold" does not improve as it goes on. Miss Rosa Mulholland's article "The Fair Emigrant" in the Catholic World was nice. She did not like the Catholic World's article on Henry George because it handled him too politely. Father Edward McGlynn did not meet with too warm a reception. :: X-3-d A.L.S. 5pp. 12mo.
