Cooney, C.S.C.,Father Peter Paul, Toledo, Ohio, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1887 February 2
Scope and Contents
Cooney thanks Hudson for the copy of the Columbian and other papers. He discusses the case ofFather Edward McGlynn and thinks his case has brought the Church before the American people in a favourable light by showing its views on labour and ownership. By putting her ban on the principles McGlynn advocates, the Church establishes her claim to be the safeguard of civil society and the only prop strong enough to sustain law and order. Cooney has to get the testimony of Doctor Averdick, his regimental surgeon in applying for a Veteran's pension. He is collecting material for his book. :: X-3-d A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.
