Jenkins, Father Thomas J., Louisville, Kentucky, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1886 November 26
Scope and Contents
Hudson's note on the erection of the Orestes A. Brownson Memorial agrees with Jenkins' plan which he sent to the University of Cleveland. He has written to Hoffman Brothers of Milwaukee and Bishop John Lancaster Spalding about forwarding the more intellectual monument, the Brownson Chair. Hoffmann has placed at Spalding's disposal space in his Quarterly Clergy lists to make a direct appeal for the Philosophy Chair. If the board approves, they will need Hudson's support by publicity in the Ave Maria. Jenkins thanks Hudson for the favorable review of his recent book and relates how poorly it is selling. He has been appointed pastor of St. Lawrence parish, Knottsville, Kentucky. :: X-3-c A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.
