Welch has been transferred from Boston to Holy Cross College. He is at present giving a retreat in Manchester, New Hampshire, a diocese which has a Catholic population twice that of Portland, Maine. Welch's first duty since returning to Holy Cross was to give the eulogy at the funeral of Father Michael Daugherty .
