MacDonnell, Sister Mary Magdalene, Lisbon, Portugal, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1886 July 19
Scope and Contents
Sister recommends Hudson take a year's leave of absence and spend it traveling in an attempt to rebuild his health. She thanks Hudson for the book. She praises "Midshipman Bob". During the next seven weeks she will attempt to complete her biography of St. Pius after which she plans to send Hudson a sketch of Isabella Brown, a Catholic writer of stories for youth. She is sorry to report that Archbishop Cajetan Masella has not been made cardinal. She was surprised to see her sketch of Blessed Margaret of Savoy in the Ave Maria and hopes Hudson will like her story "Doralice". She is pleased that Christian Reid's story has commenced in the Ave Maria. Hudson is correct, "Robin Redbreast's Victory" was written by Kathleen O'Meara and not by Rosa Mulholland . She has never read such rubbish as the so-called Irish stories of Mulholland's that Father Matthew Russell, S.J. is publishing. :: X-3-c A.L.S. 8pp. 12mo.
