Welch, S.J., Father Edward H., Overbrook, Pennsylvania, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1886 March 18
Scope and Contents
Welch thanks Hudson for the copy of "Lepers of Molokai". He gives a description of St. Charles Seminary, Overbrook, where he is giving a retreat. Archbishop John J. Williams let Father Henry Barry enter the Jesuit novitiate. There is a great want of parochial schools in Boston and each pastor is attempting to erect a school. The late Mr. Francis Anthony Drexel left each of two Jesuit houses in Philadelphia $50,000. This will enable Father Burchard Villiger, S.J., Superior of the Jesu to roof his church. He congratulates Hudson on building up the large circulation of the Ave Maria. :: X-3-b A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.
