Van Ness thanks Hudson for the three books. She thought Hudson knew that her proper name was Madame Elizabeth Ten Broeck, R.S.H., and that she was a religious. Van Ness signs herself E.V.N. to Mr. Patrick Hickey also and she has never sent an article to any other newspaper but the Illustrated Catholic American and the Ave Maria.
