Mac Donnell, Sister Mary Magdelene, Lisbon, Portugal, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1885 March 19
Scope and Contents
Sister is glad to hear that Charles Warren Stoddard is at Notre Dame and hopes he will be given the grace of a religious vocation. She prefers the first part of Stoddard's book "Troubled Heart" where he recalls his youthful religious experiences as a Protestant. Sister compares it with Newman's experiences as a Protestant set forth in his "Apologia Pro Vita Sua". She congratulates Hudson for publishing Father John A. Zahm 's article in the latest Ave Maria. It is a lesson to those who call the church the enemy of science. Monsignor Cajetan Masella is threatened with blindness. He is certain to be named a Cardinal. :: X-2-o A.L.S. 12pp. 12mo.
