Oechtering, Father Augustine B., Mishawaka, Indiana, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1885 January 26
Scope and Contents
Enclosed is a postal note for $4.50. Oechtering believes the matter in Michigan City has been settled and that Father Julius Becks will retire from active work. At first Bishop Joseph Dwenger did not feel inclined to accept Oechtering's proposition, but Oechtering left nothing undone to convince him of the need to retire Becks. Father John Blackmann of Delphi will go to Michigan City. Oechtering hears that Monsignor Julian Benoit is on the point of death. Today he saw in a German newspaper that Prussia would not allow the publication of the Address of the American Prelates to the German Bishops. :: X-2-o A.L.S. 3pp. 12mo.
