Norfleet, James, Tarboro, North Carolina, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1883 June 14

 Item — Box: CHUD 5
Identifier: CHUD X-2-l

Scope and Contents

Norfleet received the two pamphlets on scepticism and science. He read the lectures with interest, but has not quite finished Father John Zahm 's which he liked better because of the subject and because he solves a problem which often troubled Norfleet. Is Christianity reconcilable with evolution? Christians, Zahm says, may believe theistic evolution, if they think it sufficiently established. Would Hudson suggest a course of reading that will comprehend the theory and then its relation to the Church. Norfleet is going to be a lawyer, but he is somewhat fearful of the pecuniary prospects; the profession being crowded in North Carolina. :: X-2-l A.L.S. 2pp. 4to.
