Scope and Contents

Miss Howe received a disappointing letter from the English penitentiary at Loreto in which he says that he can find no proof that the cure of Pius IX was due to Our Lady of Loreto. She includes an inventory of his gifts to the Treasury of the Holy House made a short time ago. She incloses a German sketch of the Holy Father to prove that they do not imagine that he was cured by a pilgrimage to Loreto. She thinks every time he and the Sisters of St. Mary's enter the Loreto they should say a prayer that, if the Holy Father was cured by the lady of Loreto, it may come to light soon. She is going to continue her search for proof. Father Aegidius is going to visit Notre Dame and Miss Howe tells Hudson that he plays the organ well. Her sister received the design Hudson sent and she will send it on to Kelly, Piet, Co, She has corrected forty-eight pages of proof, and at that rate she believes it will take a year to bring the book out. If Hudson has occasion to write the publishers, she wants him to put in a good word for the frontispiece. Miss Howe believes that Anne Sadlier will have much to do before she can compare to Mrs. Dorsey when she enters the columns of the Ave Maria. She asks to be remembered to Father Alexis Granger. She believes that they are going to leave soon for Saint Mary's of the Woods. :: X-2-d A.L.S. 4pp. crown 8 vo
