Document. Reply to Gordon Zahn ~ Three page essay by Mr. O'Leary re: Nuclear War and Morality. Also has attached an article by Joseph L. Walsh re: Recent Catholic Writing on Morality and Nuclear War. ~ Feels that Dr. Zahn pays more attention to question of whether or not it is licit to participate in an unjust war or to use obviously unjust means, than the issue of Nuclear War and Morality. He says we are failing to be realistic by not admitting that war will ultimately come to the U. S. Lists 4 elements to Dr. Zahn's position. 1. Work in positive way to establish international peace and eliminate war. 2. Bombs and other nuclear war whose effects are uncontrollable are wrong. 3. Thinks we have been remiss in not letting the general public in on the immorality and indiscriminate bombing. 4. Everyone should see war as a no longer legitimate defense, nuclear as well as conventional. Mr. Zahn agreed with these four points. ~ 15-28
