Document. 3 page article in AMERICA by Gordon Zahn ~ Gordon claims that the Archdiocese for the Military Services and Pax Christi UXA have found common cause. In response to President Clinton lifting the ban on performing abortions in military hospitals, the archbishop for mlitary services wrote to the Presendent requesting that no person be pressured into participating in abortion procedures who are opposed to abortion. Gordon asserts that this request regarding the abortion debate parallels the debate over concientious objectors. In fact, Gordon says that although the Archbishop does not recognize CO status, he was asking for one as it pertains to abortion. Gordon hopes that the Archbishop's respect for the primacy of conscience as it relates to abortions in military hospitals might also traslate to other acts of war of the armed forces. ~ 5/15 ~ 5-7
