Document. A report prepared for the Center on Conscience and War. A 30-page resource written for this independent counseling and resource service that is an affiliate of Pax Christi. ~ The report is comprised of a study where questionnaires were sent out to Catholic institutions with a ROTC program on their campus. It inquired into the faculty status of ROTC instructors, program content, and counter-balances tot he ROTC on campus. An interpretation of the findings is included and recommendations are made. They found that in spite of the decisions of the US Hierarchy there is almost no effort being made on campuses to teach the ways of peace or to counterbalance the ROTC. They recommend that peace studies programs be offered as well as training to the instuctors of the ROTC in the teachings of hte Catholic church on war and peace. They also recommend that if a student in the ROTC reaches a crisis of conscience that the school help replace ROTC scholarships with other means of financial aid. ~ 1/31 ~ 1-30
