The second draft Gordon says is better due to the readers' suggestions and is sent back for publication. ~ Gordon summarizes the story of Franz Jaegerstaetter and his assessment of the morality of the war. He says that Catholics today do not have much better of a record that those who misunderstood and rejected Jaegerstaetter. Gordon says that those who chose a conscientious objection status during the Vietnam war, or those who defected to Canada because they were not accepted as conscientious objectors need to be welcomed home without penalty and be able to count on understanding a respect from their fellow Catholics, especially since they were fulfilling what they considered to be a moral obligation.
