General

Document. A book review of Gitta Sereny's, Into That Darkness: From Mercy Killing to Mass Murder ~ Sereny's book is based on interviews with Franz Stangle, a commandant of an extermination center. She presents a story of a "nice" man who commited attrocious crimes against humanity. She also probes into the Vatican's involvement in assisting the escape of war criminals and other acts of pro-German sympathy. Zahn says that it is a question that deserves even further inquiry than Sereny was able to do. ~ America ~ 262
