Documents. "Response"--Gordon writes that the "Memorial" proceeds as if pacifism were condemned by the Church, and goes on to cite numerous occasions when it was accepted by members of the Church. He outlines the various Conscientious Objector positions, saying that all three need to be recognized as legitimate by the Church. He says the Memorial ignores the application of just war theory which implies it is incongruous with the teachings of the Church. "Addendum"-- Gordon explains and defends the selective obedience principle, applying it to instances in the Church that are not exclusive to war only.
