Document. Contributor to The Irish Times ~ "Bishop Defends Soldiers In Derry's Bloody Sunday" ~ Article in THE IRISH TIMES ~ The article reports the statement of Bishop Tickle, bishop to the chaplains in the British Army, defending the actions of British soldiers in the killing of 13 civilians. The coroner made remarks that the soldiers were murderers, and the bishop responded by saying that the soldiers killed in self-defense and defense of the civilian population. When asked if Catholic soldiers experienced moral dilemmas or questioned orders to kill, the bishop replied, "No, no, if every soldier questioned his orders, where would we get to?" He said a significant proportion of the soldiers were Catholic and he was proud to be associated with them. ~ newspaper--The Irish Times ~ 9/6 ~ p. 8
