Document. "A Religious Pacifist Looks at Abortion"--Zahn; Commentary on Zahn's article--de Marco ~ Zahn--8 page article exploring the right to life; de Marco--6 page commentary on Zahn's article ~ Zahn points out those against war should also be concerned about the destruction of human life in the womb. He then goes through the major philosophical arguments: human rights begin at the moment of conception; to argue against the viability of a fetus is the same as arguing for euthanasia of the elderly or mentally retarded; society has a responsibility to the fetus, especially when it is most dependent upon society; and even under tragic circumstances such as rape, respect for life should prevail. de Marco claims that Zahn erred when he failed to consider the question of contraception with abortion. He reiterates many of Zahn's arguments, questioning a few points, and says that overall Zahn's essay is a powerful and logical one. de Marco wonders why more of the objection against the killing in Vietnam is not translated to objection against abortion. ~ Child and Family ~ Vol. 10 ~ No. 4 ~ 330-343
