In the Bishop's absence, Marty would be of great help to the diocese, so Grignon asks Odin to ordain him after a retreat. From a letter just received they are informed that Father Constantin Vandemore is on the way to Natchez via New Orleans. Bishop William Henry Elder asks Grignon to beg Odin to direct Vandemore to go to Pascagoula without coming to Natchez. Grignon has just learned that the priests in the north of the diocese have not yet received their ordos. Rousselon is to send Grignon four copies and eight copies of the Council of New Orleans. If Rousselon cannot send Mass intentions he is to give Grignon credit. He presumes most of those in the south have ordos but like Grignon do not know the decrees of the Council.
