Content Description One vernacular photograph album with 23 leaves. The album contains a collection of 46 miscellaneous studio ferrotype portraits, mostly of pairs of men squared off as boxers. Most of the images probably date from the last quarter of the nineteenth century. A few of the subjects wear gloves or athletic clothing, but most of the subjects wear everyday attire with their fists raised for the camera. A large disbound scrapbook of sports-related clippings, mostly pictorial, from The National Police Gazette, The Illustrated Police News, and The New York Illustrated News. Much of the material consists of engraved portraits of boxers of the 1880s and 1890s.
