19th Century Vernacular Posed Boxing Photograph Album

Content Description

One vernacular photograph album with 23 leaves. The album contains a collection of 46 miscellaneous studio ferrotype portraits, mostly of pairs of men squared off as boxers. Most of the images probably date from the last quarter of the nineteenth century. A few of the subjects wear gloves or athletic clothing, but most of the subjects wear everyday attire with their fists raised for the camera. The subjects, who vary from image to image, are unidentified. The photographs were collected and the album was assembled by an unknown person.
