Content Description

A scrapbook of newspaper clippings about bicycling compiled by W. I. Doty of Denver, Colorado, a member of the Denver Wheel Club. Clippings range in date from November 1896 to August 1897. Most clippings appear to derive from local dailies and emphasize the Colorado cycling scene. Inside front cover includes handwritten note: "No. 3 W.I. Doty, Denver Colo. ... Denver Wheel Club."

Abstract

Three oversized and densely illustrated journals compiled by a Philadelphia bookkeeper named Walter South, recording twenty bicycle trips or vacations around the American Northeast undertaken over a period of ten years, 1894 to 1904.

Dates: 1894-1904
