Scope and Contents

Consists of 11 letters (October 1864 to March 1866) written by the Newark, Ohio printer and pro-war Republican James Parkison. All are directed to his brother William, who for most of the correspondence was serving with the Union army in Tennessee.

Five letters written during the summer and fall of 1864 by the brothers (and Confederate cavalrymen) Jonathan Gibson Taylor and Robert Walker Taylor, of Daviess County, Kentucky. All were written from Federal prisoner of war camps, at Louisville, Rock Island, and Camp Douglas.

Scope and Contents Of the 127 letters in the collection, 115 were written by Leonard Williams to his wife Anna Laval Williams during the Civil War.
