Six postmarked postcards sent to Friederike Deussing, Threresienstadt, Bahnhofstr 5, with return address Deussing, Berlin, Charlottenburg 4, Wilmersdorfer Str. 149 and signed by (daughter) Edith. Notes are brief with contents including questions about Friederike's condition, discussion of Mother's day, chores, and questions about the reciept of mail. Each bears a postage stamp with portrait of Adolf Hitler. Five of the cards were printed with messages in support of the German war effort.

Scope and Contents One clipping from an unidentified newspaper reporting that due to the advance of the Red Army, prisoners could not be sent to the gas chambers in Auschwitz and Maidanek. As a result, Kaltenbrunner had sought to establish gas chambers in areas not yet occupied by Allied forces. Theresienstadt was chosen as such a location. Due to delays, the camp was liberated before all prisoners could be exected as planned, though 49 young prisoners were shot to death just an hour before the camp was...
