Content Description
A group of three personal letters written during a 1914 preseason exhibition tour by Pittsburgh Pirates player Max Carey. The letters are addressed to Carey's wife, Aurelia Behrens Carey and discuss games in Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas, as well as, personal matters.

Biographical / Historical
Max Carey (Maximilian George Carnarius, 1890-1976) was a professional baseball player and manager. He was an outfielder with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1920-1926) and the Brooklyn Dodgers (1926-1929). He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1961.
